Publisher: MWire Labs, Pohkseh, Shillong, Meghalaya, India
Imprint: Northeast Langchive
Northeast Langchive, an imprint of MWire Labs, is committed to safeguarding the privacy of all individuals who interact with our website, submit manuscripts, participate in peer review, or communicate with us for academic and publication-related purposes. This Privacy Policy describes the nature of information we collect, the reasons we collect it, and the circumstances under which it may be used or shared.
1. Scope and Purpose of Data Collection
We collect personal information strictly for the purpose of facilitating academic publishing and managing editorial operations. This includes names, contact details, institutional affiliations, and biographical notes provided by authors, editors, and reviewers. Manuscripts, supporting documents, images, tables, and other research materials submitted through our platform are collected solely to evaluate, review, edit, and publish work within Northeast Langchive volumes. Technical information such as IP addresses, browser details, and general site usage may be collected through automated systems to maintain website functionality and security, but is not tied to individual identities unless required for troubleshooting or compliance.
2. Use of Information
Information provided by users is used to support editorial workflows, including manuscript evaluation, peer review, correspondence, acceptance procedures, copyediting, and final publication. In addition, personal details such as names, affiliations, and ORCID identifiers (where provided) may be included in published materials and associated metadata to ensure proper attribution and citation indexing. We do not use personal information for commercial advertising, profiling, or resale. Communication initiated by users implies consent for us to respond and maintain their correspondence as part of publication records.
3. Indigenous, Cultural, and Community-Linked Data
Where submissions contain cultural knowledge, indigenous language material, or community-derived information, we may request documentation of consent or ethical clearance. Such data is handled with heightened sensitivity, and may be subject to additional restrictions, redaction, or conditional publication if required to protect traditional rights or cultural protocols. Community identities and permissions will never be shared outside the editorial process without explicit agreement.
4. Storage, Retention, and Archiving
All collected information is stored securely on managed servers accessible only to authorized editorial personnel. Manuscripts, accepted chapters, and related files may be permanently archived for academic record-keeping, open access preservation, and citation purposes. Withdrawn manuscripts may be retained privately to document editorial history but are not made public. Although we take reasonable measures to maintain system security, no digital system is entirely immune to risk; users acknowledge that data transmission involves inherent limitations.
5. Third-Party Access and Disclosure
Information is shared only when operationally necessary. Manuscripts and author details may be shared with editors, peer reviewers, typesetters, or indexing services involved in preparing or distributing the final publication. We may also share limited metadata with academic discovery platforms or archiving repositories at later stages of the series. We will not disclose personal information to external entities for marketing or commercial exploitation. Reviewer identities are kept strictly confidential unless disclosure is mutually agreed upon.
6. User Rights and Requests
Individuals have the right to request access to their stored data, to correct inaccuracies, or to request removal of information that is no longer legally or operationally required. Authors may withdraw their manuscript before publication, subject to editorial acknowledgment. After publication, alterations or takedown requests must be accompanied by valid ethical or legal justification. Requests may be submitted to editor@northeastlangchive.org for review and response.
7. Policy Amendments
MWire Labs reserves the right to update or revise this Privacy Policy as operations evolve or as legal requirements change. Continued use of the website or publishing services after revisions constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
