Submission Guidelines

These guidelines provide detailed requirements for preparing and submitting chapters to Northeast Langchive publications. All submissions must meet these standards to be considered for peer review.

Important: Submissions must be original work not published elsewhere or currently under consideration by another publisher. Upon acceptance, authors will be required to sign a declaration confirming originality and granting publication rights under a CC BY 4.0 license.

Chapter Requirements

Length & Structure

  • Word Count: 4,000-7,000 words (including references, excluding appendices)
  • Abstract: 150-250 words summarizing your chapter’s key arguments and findings
  • Keywords: 4-6 keywords for indexing purposes
  • Structure: Introduction, main body (with subsections as appropriate), conclusion, references

 

Required Components

All chapters must include:

  • Title (clear and descriptive)
  • Author name(s) and affiliation(s)
  • Abstract
  • Introduction establishing context and objectives
  • Clear argumentation or presentation of findings
  • Conclusion with implications for the field
  • Complete reference list

Formatting & Style

Formatting & Style

  • File Format: Microsoft Word (.docx) or OpenDocument (.odt)
  • Font: Times New Roman, 12pt
  • Line Spacing: Double-spaced throughout
  • Margins: 1 inch (2.54 cm) on all sides
  • Headings: Use consistent heading levels (Heading 1, Heading 2, etc.)
  • Page Numbers: Include page numbers in footer

 

Citation Style: APA 7th Edition

Ensure all in-text citations have corresponding entries in the reference list and vice versa.

Figures, Tables, & Multimedia

General Requirements

  • Number all figures and tables consecutively (Figure 1, Table 1, etc.)
  • Provide descriptive captions for all visual elements
  • Reference all figures/tables in the main text
  • Submit high-resolution images (minimum 300 dpi for print quality)
  • Ensure you have permission to reproduce any third-party materials

Author Information

Each submission must include:

  • Full name(s) of all authors
  • Institutional affiliation(s) (or “Independent Researcher” if unaffiliated)
  • Email address of corresponding author
  • ORCID iD (optional but encouraged – register free at orcid.org)
  • Author bio (50-100 words per author) highlighting relevant expertise
  • Acknowledgments (if applicable – funding sources, research assistants, community partners)

Originality & Rights

Original Work Requirement

All submissions must be:

  • Original research or scholarship not published elsewhere
  • Not under consideration by any other publisher or journal
  • Not submitted simultaneously to other publications

If your work builds on previously published material (e.g., conference papers, reports), you must:

  • Substantially expand and revise the content (50%+ new material)
  • Disclose the prior publication in your cover email
  • Obtain any necessary permissions

 

Copyright Declaration

Upon acceptance, authors will be required to sign a Copyright and Licensing Agreement stating that:

  • You are the original author(s) or have obtained rights from all contributors
  • The work does not infringe on any third-party rights
  • You grant Northeast Langchive (MWire Labs) the right to publish under CC BY 4.0 license
  • You retain copyright and can reuse your work with proper attribution

What Happens After Submission

  • Acknowledgment – You’ll receive an email confirmation within 48 hours
  • Initial Review – Editor assesses fit with volume scope (1-2 weeks)
  • Peer Review – If suitable, your chapter undergoes double-blind peer review (2-8 weeks)
  • Decision – You’ll receive one of the following:
    • Accept with minor revisions
    • Revise and resubmit (major revisions required)
    • Reject
  • Revisions – If requested, you’ll have 3 weeks to revise
  • Final Acceptance – Sign copyright declaration
  • Copyediting – Professional editing for clarity and consistency
  • Publication – Chapter published in open access volume
