Terms and Conditions

The following Terms and Conditions govern the use of northeastlangchive.org and all activities related to the submission, review, publication, and distribution of scholarly materials through Northeast Langchive. By using the website or by submitting work for consideration, users indicate full understanding and acceptance of these terms.

1. Relationship Between Author and Publisher

Submission of a manuscript initiates a professional relationship between the author and the publisher. This relationship does not guarantee publication; acceptance occurs only after editorial evaluation and, where applicable, peer review. Authors retain copyright to their work but, upon acceptance, grant MWire Labs the non-exclusive right to publish, distribute, and host the chapter under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0) license. This allows sharing and adaptation of the work with proper attribution, while enabling authors to continue using their work elsewhere.

2. Originality, Ethical Compliance, and Permissions

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their submission is original, lawful, and free of copyright infringement. Work previously published or simultaneously under consideration by another outlet may not be submitted unless clearly stated and substantively revised. Materials containing cultural knowledge or indigenous content must be accompanied by appropriate permissions or summary confirmation that ethical requirements have been respected. The publisher reserves the right to request supporting documentation.

3. Editorial Process and Review

Manuscripts may undergo editorial screening, peer review, and revision before acceptance. During this process, editors may offer guidance without obligation to publish. Peer review may be single-blind or double-blind depending on reviewer availability and topic sensitivity. Decisions may be: accepted, accepted with revisions, revision and resubmission, or declined. Authors may request clarification of a decision; however, editorial judgments are final to maintain the integrity of the publication process.

4. Corrections, Withdrawal, and Retraction

An author may request to withdraw a manuscript at any time before acceptance. After acceptance but before publication, withdrawal may occur with reasonable explanation. After publication, a chapter may be corrected, amended, or retracted only when legal, ethical, or factual issues justify doing so. Grounds for retraction include proven plagiarism, unauthorized use of cultural material, ethical misconduct, or breach of rights. Retraction notices may remain publicly visible for transparency.

5. Responsibilities and Limitations

Although care is taken to verify the accuracy of content, responsibility for the factual integrity and interpretation of research rests with the author. The publisher does not assume liability for academic disputes, misinterpretation, data errors, or institutional disagreements arising from the published material. Technical issues, website downtime, or digital loss beyond the reasonable control of the publisher do not constitute grounds for liability beyond the removal or correction of affected content.

6. Website Conduct and Usage

Users agree not to attempt unauthorized access, automated scraping, or disruptive interaction with the website. Content may be shared, distributed, or adapted under the terms of CC BY 4.0, provided attribution is given to the original author and publisher. Any attempt to misrepresent affiliation with Northeast Langchive or use its name without permission may result in legal response.

7. Legal Framework

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of India, with jurisdiction for disputes residing in the courts of Shillong, Meghalaya, India. Use of the site constitutes acknowledgment of this jurisdiction.
